January 2021 Pupdate

Ruff 2020…BUT 2021 is going to be Fur-Tastic

Well PNR Pack, we shih tzu not…2020 is OVER! We know it was a bit ruff, but we’re ready to bring on the New Year. With 2021 comes plenty of awesome Pupdates from Paws ‘n’ Rec. But before we get there, we can’t thank you enough for your support last year, and we’re excited to announce lots of new goodies for your pups this year.

Solo Adventures and New Pack Treats

In our work with previous facilities, we’ve seen the benefit of offering members 1-1 sessions that stimulate their minds, get some extra energy out, improve their mental health, and help them learn new skills! Starting today, we’re now offering Solo Adventures for all members. Solo Adventures are available daily and can be added on to any adventure (daycare or boarding) for $10/adventure. See our adventures below and inquire at checking if you’d like to book one:

  • Cuddles: You bring the fur, the ears, the paws – we’ll bring the love, the hugs, and the treats!
    • Let your Adventurer feel the love with some extra TLC from our Adventure Guides! One-on-one cuddling time has been proven to deepen bonds, improve moods, and relieve stress.
  • Tail Time: Clifford the Big Red Dog didn’t get where he is today by watching Netflix.
    • Your Adventurer will enjoy a story read by their favorite Adventure Guide!
  • Fetch Session: Even Tom Brady needs to practice.
    • Everyone loves a good fetch sesh! Get your Adventurer extra tired with an add-on one-on-one fetch session.
  • Puppy Puzzles: The best way to improve SAT scores is by getting them started early.
    • Stimulate your pup’s brain with puzzles! Our team hides treats inside for a sweet reward!
  •  Adventure Park: Like Crossfit, minus the weights + the fur, and way safer 🙂
    • Your Adventurer will enjoy our new agility course all to themselves!

In addition to offering these new 1-1 adventures, we wanted to celebrate the new year with a gift for the entire PNR pack, so we’ve ordered some awesome play yard bridges.

These bridges will provide extra mental and physical stimulation for all our pups when they’re out in the yard. They are great for cardiovascular and muscular development, add extra fun to games of chase or hide-and-seek, and are perfect for dogs who love to climb and jump! Plus, they’re going to make for some pawesome action-shots! Keep your eyes on our social for pics once they arrive in the coming weeks.

Operational Changes for a Stronger Pack

Since taking over Paws ‘n’ Rec, our primary goal has been to provide the highest level of safety and fun to all the dogs in our care. We’ve invested thousands of dollars to upgrade the safety of the facility, rolled out new training programs for all staff, and improved nearly every protocol. As of February 1st, 2021, we’ll also be rolling out new customer-facing software. Over the last few months, we’ve gone through a careful process of looking at the ways that both customers and staff interact with our existing system, and we believe changing to a new system will make the experience of becoming a new customer, making both boarding and daycare reservations, and staying in touch with us about your pups far easier. We’ll keep you posted as we get closer to that date on how you can start using the new system once it’s live.

Along with those changes, we made the decision with our management team to move to a group play facility as of January 2021. We’re happy to announce that as of today, all of our Adventurers are now playing with the pack.

The positives of moving to all group play include the ability to drastically increase the amount of daily playtime for pups in our care, provide them with substantially more space to play in, and maintain smaller playgroups with the lowest dog-to-person ratio in Tampa. While we’ll miss our Individual Adventurers, we’re happy to evaluate all pups to give them a shot at group play!

Finally, we’re now implementing set feeding times every day: 7:30 AM (breakfast), 11 AM (lunch), and 4 PM (dinner). Feeding time will be 30 minutes followed by 1 hour of rest before playtime to avoid bloat (a major safety issue!). If you’d like your fur-baby to be fed outside of these time frames, we’re happy to do so, but due to the increase in playtime, custom feeding times may result in missing a play cycle.

2021 Pricing

We’ve sent out a few emails over the last several weeks and spoken to many of you as we’ve worked to standardize all pricing.

2022 Pricing can be found on our website here.

Effective immediately, Hotel Members will also have access to Drop-and-Dash daycare passes for $42/each.

Finally, our Weekender Special rate will be increasing slightly to $80. At an over $120 value, this is still the best deal in town! You can always book boarding through the customer portal, by giving us a call or emailing info@pawsnrec.com.

The Terrible, Horrible, No-good, Ugly Sweater Contest

We had so much fun watching our Adventurers dress up every day during December! We saw so many fur-abulous outfits, it was hard to choose a winner! One Adventurer had a new sweater for each adventure and modeled every outfit like a pro! The winner of our first annual Terrible, Horrible, No-Good, Ugly Sweater 2020 Contest is…Selah Dorsett!

Small Fur-Member: Reilly Wells

dog eating treat

This little lady is such a firecracker out in the yards! Reilly has the sweetest face ever but don’t let that fool you – she runs the paw-ty every time she’s here! She loves riling her Small fur-iends up and starting an epic game of Catch Me If You Can. When she isn’t getting the action started, you can find her cuddling up to her Adventure Guides, using her puppy eyes to get all the rubs. We love having Reilly join us for fun and we look fur-ward to many more adventures with this sweet girl!

Medium Fur-Member: Holly Weinstein

Holly is the definition of always ready! She comes to daycare on 100 and never fails to make a grand entrance into the yards. Her fur-iends know when it’s time for action, she’s the pup to go to! Holly loves all things fur-iends, fun, and treats – don’t fur-get the treats! When Holly isn’t ruling the yards, you can find her sitting pretty in the sun, soaking up the rays and showing off her gorgeous smile. We’ve absolutely loved having Holly in our PNR family and getting to know her over the last year. We can’t wait to make many more memories with you, Miss Holly!

Medium Plus Fur-Member: Turk Generotti

woman holding dog

Turk is one of the coolest dudes in town! From his very first adventure with us, Turk has been the paw-fect fit for our PNR squad and brings so much happiness to our staff and other fur-members. His personality is so sweet and goofy, he always knows how to get his fur-iends in on the fun! He loves taking long naps in between his play groups and convincing his Adventure Guides to give him extra pets any time we walk past his suite (he’s so cute, can you blame us?). It’s been such a paw-leasure having this fur-baby join our pack and we look forward to all the adventures to come!

Large Fur-Member: Coby Pakidis

woman playing with dog

Coby is the biggest love bug there ever was! This big baby loves nothing more than a good belly rub and will do anything to get one! His signature move is to sit between an Adventure Guides legs and slowly inch his way on his back to reach the optimal scratching position. Once he’s on his back, face to the sun, getting his belly rubbed he’s in a trance! Our team loves giving him big bear hugs and letting him love on them – there’s anything better than Coby cuddles! We’re so lucky to have this handsome boy in our PNR family to always lift our spirits with endless hugs, love and kisses!
